There are millions of theories of how or why we get hiccups, and just as many theories of how to cure them.
Scientifically, hiccup is explained as involuntary contractions, or spasm of the diaphragm that leads to an immediate reactive closure of the vocal chords, creating the "hiccup" sound. The diaphragm is a large muscle at the base of the lungs that contracts every time a person breathes in. As the diaphragm contracts, it becomes flatter which allows the lungs to expand, causing air to be sucked in.
Eating behaviors, food choices, temperature changes and emotional stress are common causes of hiccups. While hiccup is a harmless condition, they can be very annoying, and in some cases very uncomfortable.
No matter what condition causes hiccups, apple cider vinegar can help! Because of its strong taste, pungent aroma, and powerful effects within the digestive system, apple cider vinegar causes immediate physical reactions to cure hiccups.
TO STOP HICCUPS, COMBINE:
1 tablespoon ACV
1 tablespoon water
Consume between hiccups.
